I'm very sorry to hear you're having continuing difficulties and I appreciate your effort to continue to bring these shows to us even when you should probably be resting and taking better care of yourself.

    Take care!

PS: Make sure you are getting the best care you can get. The best way to do that is to ask questions and if you don't understand the answer or are not satisfied with the answer, keep asking until you are satisfied. Let your caretakers (physician, nurses, etc.) know you are paying attention and they will as well.

  2. Professor,

Love your work, but especially, take care of yourself. You're in my prayers today.

  3. Take good care of yourself! I work in an OR and burn some of your shows for the surgeons I work with, they all appreciate you! Infections will make a recovery long and tedious. Take good care of yourself.

Wow! Great Sound and Music. Love the Truckin into Stella Blue. Brught me back to my Dead heyday in college during the 70's. Many a road trip to follow the boys from town to town.

Thanks Prof and get well soon.

I'm unsure if this is the proper place to request a show, but here goes. I'm 17 years old and my discovery of the dead is just under a year old, i can't pretend to be any kind of connesiour or dead head, but i've been listening to your podcast every week for around six months now and i'm starting to think that someday, with your help, i might get there. a while back you played the the show from 5/8/77 barton hall, cornell university. i was wondering if you'd consider playing the show from the previous night, 5/7/77 Boston Garden.
Many thanks, Will Harris out of Durham, North Carolina.

PS. Hope you feel better soon

You are the epitome of dedication John. There's nothing I love more than opening iTunes and seeing my Deadshow podcast start downloading. I am sooooo sorry to hear about your recent infection. I hope the doctors can work their magic and treat it quickly. I hope you are doing better in no time. I will send you all the prayers and good vibes I can. In the words of Jerry and Robert "May the four winds blow you safely home!" Im pleases me so much to still have the Deadshow Podcast available for download. Recently the Dead.net downloads have been converted to Streaming Audio. It saddens me the whole Rhino take over of the Vault and the company. But its always gratifying to know that some people out there like yourself do not compromise their love of the music. Keep on trucking and Get well soon man. You truly are a Gem in the world of the Grateful Dead. Peace.

ok i'm so particular about my grammar. My post should have said "it pleases me...." but I accidentally put "im pleases me!" Sorry i had to fix that. Haha. Take care John.

I was very much impressed with the first set played last week, and this week's DP started out very strong with the completion of that first set. While lyrically challenged, Truckin' was great, Stella Blue was so sweet, and A&A was very well done. I couldn't wait for what the second set might hold. I was truly thinking that this show was upper echelon-quality stuff.

Whereas the second set started out promisingly Eyes, the band started to get a little "loose" (not a good loose) part way through. The remainder of the set seemed plagued with moments during which the band just didn't seem to be in synch. Don't get me wrong: I still enjoyed myself, and this show is quite collectible in its entirety. But, compared to the standard that was set early on...well, you get the idea.

Then, as I was archiving the set in my own collection, it dawned on me that the second set was only five songs long. Did something happen that night which caused the quality to decrease, and eventually truncated the show?
