Dead Show/podcast for 03/20/09

Time for something a little different, here's a show I've wanted to play for some time, a really solid show that features Jerry in fine voice and the band playing tightly.. I especially enjoy the Jack Straw->Sugaree opener and the West LA in the first set, Bobby announces it's Brent's birthday (which its not).. but Brent does close the set with a fine 'Far From Me'....

Please note: I understand that I had a misplaced song in the original podcast - my appologies - if you downloaded the first version you may need to re-download the corrected one..

Grateful Dead Boston Garden Boston, MA
Date 9/18/82 - Saturday
One Jack Straw [5:03] > Sugaree [11:43] ; Mama Tried [2:31] > Mexicali Blues [4:49] ; West L.A. Fadeaway [7:56] ; Little Red Rooster [7:33] ; Dupree's Diamond Blues [5:49] ; Cassidy [6:02] ; Far From Me [4:15]

    Good Morning

Throwing Stones (I guess from the 2nd set) is mixed in with the first set.

    Loved the 2/13/70

    Thanks for all you do.

No worries ever about something a little different! From a long-time listener, I love your '80s and '90s picks alongside everything else.

Out of curiosity, you mentioned on your Twitter that you almost picked an even more unusual show. What was that?

  5. Professor,

Please post the first Vince show! That weekend in Cleveland was my 21st birthday celebration. Drove all the way from Fulton, MO and back in time for class on Monday!

    Thanks for all you do.

Well, Vince's sound is what it was, but that momentum they had going in 1990 (all because I was born that year, of course) is worth it in my book.

I realize this is my third post today, but I just had to say, now that I'm listening to the podcast, this one's FANTASTIC. I'm completely sold on this show. Hope to see more next week.

Listening in Paris as a part of our usual weekend ritual. Brings me back to being 18 in Boston (in 1982), listening to the Dead and having a full head of hair. :-)

    Outstanding!

Love the podcast, which I get through Itunes. Is there a way to get older podcasts from Itunes (and save in my library) - it appears I can only get the last 7 or 8. Thanks.

This was an excellent selection. I enjoyed hearing the extra verse in West LA Fadeaway; Jerry was on fire in Cassidy; and, I enjoyed Far From Me for the first time.
