Dead Show/podcast for 01/15/2010

This week - the second part of this fabulous recording of Jerry Garcia and Merle Saunders during the salad days of 1973 - July 10th at the Keystone in Berkeley CA.
I don't have alot to say about this - let you ears enjoy the genius displayed and lose yourself in this fabulous recording...

the notes for this recording state: "I'm not sure on the lineage but I've thought alot about it. It's obviously a multitrack mixdown(gaps between tunes). Some of the JGB stuff from the Debbie Stash are masters(like 6-6-73!!). My best guess of the 7-10-73 is Multitracks(Bob and Betty Ampex MM110)>2 track mixdown MR>R @ 7 1/2 ips.(WB)>DVD. That's what I think it is esp. being a 7 1/2 ips. reel and the dynamics(nice!!). It was probably "working reels" for the original album that Jerry had maybe that he was picking tunes from"

Professor - A question: Does it get much better than this?

Suggested project: Package up all the Jerry Band/Grateful Dead music made in 1973 and save in safe place for permanent record of amazing music.

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

When you say that this show was "just released", does that mean it's available for purchase anywhere? I can't seem to find the individual show, just the Live at Keystone I, II, and Encores.

    Thanks!

Bill, I think it is. 99% sure. Garcia's finest vocal work of his career, IMO.

Another phenomenal set! I love good, old-fashioned Grateful Dead shows, but please keep stuff like this coming!
