This starts out with a Truckin' into a fabulous Other One.. this slowly turns into a wonderful jam that leads us into a very nice He's Gone.. The Looks Like Rain and Sugar Magnolia that follow are fine, but the highlight of the show follows when the band is joined by Dickey Betts and Berry Oakley for a blistering Not Fade Away and Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad. Just when you think the music couldn't possibly go further, they raise it up a notch with a smoking Hey, Bo Diddley..! The band comes out for a Johnny B Goode encore but by then I can't imagine the fans could ask for much more..

I hope you enjoy the beauty of October and this stunning set of music.
I could not bring the Deadpod to you without the financial support of my listeners, to whom I am very grateful. Thank you for your support.
PLEASE NOTE: the first version of the Deadpod for this week was missing the Other One reprise following He's Gone. I've uploaded a corrected version. My apologies for this error.

Yes, some furious jamming in there, indeed! Loved this!
ReplyDeleteProfessor (or any other scholars out there), in Searching For The Sound, Phil discusses a night at the Fillmore East in February, 1970 (my research shows that it was the late show on 02/11/70) during which the band was joined by members of The Allman Brothers and Fleetwood Mac for a barn-burning Dark Star > Spanish Jam > Lovelight. Have you ever featured that show on the Deadpod? I have listened to every DP from 2009 through present, and I don't think it was played...so, if it was, it would probably have been 2008 or prior. Or, has it been an official release? Based on Phil's description, it sounds like a must-listen. Thanks!
