I was informed that the Deadpod received a DMCA violation notification this week from the lawyers representing the Jerry Garcia estate. Consequently I have had to remove any Deadpods that contained Jerry Garcia Band material and those will no longer be available. I will no longer be able to feature any such material either.
I am hopeful that will be the end of the matter.

Prof, so sorry you had to Deal with that.
ReplyDeletePeople love to make money...
I'm sure you can't comment here, but perhaps others can speculate, how is it that taped shows obtained legally can be pulled out of rotation on public forums? Especially public forums not seeking to make money?
Professor,
ReplyDeleteIt is/has been an amazing ride, thanks for your continued support to share which had been so wonderfully shared before....Thanks for all you do.
Pig Street!
Thank you for all you do, Professor. We are truly broken-hearted to hear this.
ReplyDeleteThis is not what Jerry would have wanted....
This is a bummer, but keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteWhat goes around comes around.
ReplyDeleteGood for you; sad day for them.
Professor,
ReplyDeleteThank you for all your work.
Shakespeare said it best.
A sad turn of events, indeed. I truly enjoyed every bit of what was so lovingly curated and shared.
ReplyDeleteThe greed of the Garcia estate is boundless. I will buy no more of their "officially released" stuff. Carry on, Professor. Thanks for all your work.
ReplyDeletevery sad news. I would have hoped that they would have seen the bigger picture...by sharing JGB with a growing audience it would have increased the interest level. I would never have started purchasing Jerry Garcia licensed merchandise if I had not starting hearing JGB on your show.
ReplyDeletePlease keep up the great work. Keep doing it for your good kharma and for the benefit of all listeners
This isn't hard to believe since after Jerry's death his estate has been all about money. I just hope this is the end of you having to deal with lawyers. That can't be fun.
ReplyDeleteThere's another thought on Grateful Dead money making. This 50 year reunion is a farce. Yes I said it. Our beloved Jerry has been gone now for 20 years. The Grateful Dead isn't the Grateful Dead without Jerry. Just that simple. I am a purist, I have never gone to any of the Dead members shows to listen to Grateful Dead songs. I love Phil and always will. But I just couldn't get myself to go to those shows. My 1st shows were Winterland 10-18,19,20-1974 The Last Ones! as they were called. There have been Dead fans who never seen the Grateful Dead. I won't be going to the 50th (so called) anniversary shows. I have the chance to go but no thanks. It's a money grabbing gig. Trey Anastasio? Ya right!
