This week, a request for a show that I've been told was great fun to attend, where after the show they actually filmed the video for 'Touch of Grey' afterwards..
I think its a fun, high energy set we'll listen to this week, next week I'll play set 2. I especially enjoy Weir and Brent's contributions - Tons of Steel is fab..
Hope you enjoy it!

I believe the "Touch of Grey" video was filmed at the Marin Civic Center. It was definitely in-doors. -- SactoBob
ReplyDeleteA good friend of mine who attended told me it was filmed after the show - from Wikipedia:
ReplyDelete"Dead Ringers: The Making of Touch of Grey begins with a concert performance of the song "Touch of Grey". This is from the May 9, 1987 Dead show at the Laguna Seca Recreation Area in Monterey, California....After the May 9, 1987 Laguna Seca Grateful Dead show, the audience was readmitted to the concert area, to appear as themselves in the video. The band was filmed on stage, lip syncing the "Touch of Grey" studio recording. Then the marionettes were filmed in the band members' places, also lip syncing the recording. The audience, coached with cue cards, was also filmed. The visuals were naturally enhanced by fog that had rolled in from the nearby Pacific Ocean."
Now I wouldn't doubt that some of it may have also been filmed indoors .. but I stand by the claim that it was filmed after this show...
Is there a way to download archived dead pods? We had a huge collection and they were deleted, is this possible?
ReplyDeleteJessica - yes you can download past deadpods - just come here to the blog and find the ones you want - look at the 'blog archive' listing on the right hand side of the blog page.. just right click and choose 'save as' from your browser and it should be saved to your hard drive - good luck and thanks for listening!
ReplyDeleteThis was a very enjoyable, well played set. Although there are many wonderful qualities that I could highlight, today I choose to give a shout out to Brent, whose Tons Of Steel was a great listen.
