Dead Show/podcast for 5/16/08

This week a newly released sbd from 1972! I can't resist playing this one, and I think you'll agree that its more than worth your attention this week..
This is from November 15th, 1972, Oklahoma City, OK. All we have is the second set - but its a beauty...

Grateful Dead - November 15, 1972
Oklahoma City Music Hall - Oklahoma City, OK
Promised Land, Ramble on Rose, Mexicali Blues, Brokedown Palace, Playin In the Band,
Big Railroad Blues, Me & Bobby McGee, Wharf Rat, Sugar Magnolia, Not Fade Away->Goin' Down the Road Feelin' Bad -> Not Fade Away
E: Johnny B. Goode

Jerry's guitar work in Playin' was described as 'demonic' by one reviewer - I think you'll agree this is quite special.. I hope you enjoy it!!

As always you can listen to the Deadpod here:

I want to thank all of you who were able to contribute during our recent pledge drive - what a thrill it is having such a great group of listeners and friends!!

I have the first set of this show somewhere. My dad actually was at this show, said that they went in with good weather and came out to a ton of snow everywhere. The recording I have is on cassette and was supposedly done on soundboard. Still one of my faves. The guys really played well in a couple of OKC shows in the 70's.

Another wonderful set; and, as someone else mentioned, I as well wonder what the first set sounded like. What a happy coincidence that back-to-back Deadpods, featuring two sets performed about 8 years apart from one another, included two of the best Johnny B. Goode's I've had the pleasure of hearing. Great stuff!
