This week we have the pleasure of listening to the second set of 8/29/80 from the Spectrum in Philadelphia PA. This is a tight and rockin' second set, the boys start with an excellent greatest story into Althea. Then a wonderful version of Let It Grow goes into He's Gone.. I'm sure you'll notice Phil and Brent's contributions on this one.. after space and drums, the band goes into a marvelous Wharf Rat, then back into the rockin' grove with Goin' Down the Road, Around & Around and Johnny B. Goode. While this may not be the most cosmic Dead show around, it certain is a fun, rockin' time..
I hope you enjoy it!!

I'm a new subscriber to the DeadPod ... I have to say that while I always enjoyed the Grateful Dead and did listen to them, I never was really an enormous fan. But since discovering these podcasts, I have found myself looking forward to them more and more all the time.
It must also have something to do with the fact that I've been living overseas for ten years now, and so this music is a little taste of home.
Thank you Professor for the fine job you do! Be well ...
Jerry's playing so well on this. The whole band is spot on.
Professor - Thank you for sharing the grate music, as always. Since today's 5/11, I wondered if you might fit in 5/11/72 some time in the future? A supporter and appreciator!
I am a huge deadhead and collect tons of music from various online sources. Thank you, Professor for posting some of the updates sources and allowing me to listen to shows for pleasure while deceiding if I want to Archive them for my personal collection, which I then download the lossless version of said show. Even though it's short...Check out the recently discovered Vanderbilt Univ. 72 SBD. Excellent. looking forward....
Hey - great site! Very cool content - keep it up!
Bryan,
I probably won't play the newly released Vandy 72 show anytime soon as David Gans played it on the nation al GDH - we play that before my show on KOPN, hence I try not to repeat what David's featured.. nice show though!

The "Althea, Let It Grow ->He's Gone ->The Other One" run is SMOKIN'! Thank You!
What a set! There was a jam either before or after He's Gone that was rather tasty; and I LOVED Brent's spacey keyboards during Space: very unique, and reminiscent of my other favorite band, Pink Floyd. Finally, I don't think I've ever heard a better Johnny B. Goode from the boys: it was so powerful.
