Dead Show/podcast for 10/4/13

This week's Deadpod features this fine second set from October 21st, 1983 from the Centrum in Worcester MA.  While the Scarlet->Fire might be the highlight of this set (be sure and pay attention to the transition and to Jerry on that Fire), the Uncle John's -> Playin' is almost as great. Personally I'm a fan of the space in this set.. I think you'l hear some elements of Sage and Spirit in there and its very well played.. especially the jam into Truckin'.. Wharf Rat is always a treat for me, and the rest of the set sends the fans home dancin'..

This one is a real keeper! Great set list, and so well done. I was surprised to hear Touch Of Grey played as early as 1983, so far in advance of its 1987 studio album release...further evidence that the GD were first and foremost a live performance band, and a studio album band as a distant second. Upon subsequent scientific research (i.e., Google > Wikipedia), I discovered that the song was first performed on 09/15/82 at the illustrious Capital Centre in Landover, MD...my old stomping grounds! For those of you who don't know, it was demolished a few years back; although the GD has already burned it to the ground many a time already, figuratively speaking.

The jam between scarlet-->fire is fantastic! Really enjoyed this show. Music just always seems to sound better in the Centrum. Thx, Professor!!
