Dead Show/podcast for 08/10/07

This week we get to listen to an exceptional piece previously unreleased music from 1971. This show, from the period when Keith Godchaux had first joined the band, is lively and very well played. I especially enjoy hearing the excellent cryptical->other one->cryptical->deal...

Grateful Dead
Venue Auditorium Theatre
Location Chicago, IL
Date 10/22/71 - Friday
Two Ramble On Rose ; Cumberland Blues ; Cryptical Envelopment > Drums > The Other One > Cryptical Envelopment > Deal ; Sugar Magnolia ; Casey Jones > Johnny B. Goode

Wow wow wow. I absolutely love the variety of the podcasts, that they cover all periods of Dead (props on the '93 last week!), but I will never EVER get enough of the early Keith era. Thanks for all you do. Always a treat.

I recently had the pleasure of hearing the DP from 01-17-14 (yes, I am from the future), which was the show from 10/29/71, exactly one week after this one. It also featured a fabulous Other One that Keith simply dominated (in a good way). I was dumbfounded that that show took place a mere 10 days after Keith joined the band. Well, this show here was only Keith's third! It's simply astounding to me how quickly and how well he integrated.
