This week would have marked the 56th Birthday of Brent Mydland - so I decided to play something from the late 80s- a period where I really enjoy Brent's contributions. An interesting set list and some inspired playing from both Brent and Jerry (especially in the 2nd set which I'll be bringing you next week)..

Glad to see you're feeling better after surgery. Just had my knee operated on yesterday, and waking up to a new deadpod was such a treat! Being a young head, my only taste of the live music has really only been what I can pick up from Nugs and live albums, with some few and far-between Phil and Bobby shows mixed in. I really can't thank you enough for bridging the gap between the past and present in bringing us these shows. Hearing the Dead in their element is like experiencing living history. History in the cosmos! Thanks again, hope you're doing well.

my favorite year is 1989

I as at the warlocks shows in the fall

these shows demonstrate everyones' greatness. Phil dominates, jerry is consistently on, brent is at his peak, and bobby is being bobby.

thanks to Jack from PSU for turning me on to this deadpod

Hope you get better soon. Thanks also for your deadication to the Deadpod. If you are relaxing check out this show 1.31.70 Ware House New Orleans I think it was after their bust. In great tradition phils bass goes puff. Jerry and Bobby whip out some old standards on acoustic. A great Saw Mill and many others. Feel better. gd1294

I just discovered your podcast and I am ecstatic!!! I am currently serving in the U.S. Peace Corps in Tonga, and I can't even tell how much being able to listen to these shows helps on the tough days:) Thanks so much for keeping the music alive! I only saw the Grateful Dead 7 times, but those moments were truly some of the best of my life.

Do you by any chance know how to get a copy of the recent PA Dead show fundraiser for Obama?!

Thanks again:) And I hope you are recovering well from your surgery.

There are a plethora of recordings of the Obama show available on etree.org as well as gdvault.com if you can torrent download.

Worcester MA is pronounced "Woosta" or even "Wooster" as in woof. Not "Worchester"

Loved the Big Boss Man opener...proof that Pigpen's spirit was still alive and well. It strikes me as a rather rare tune to hear in their latter years...is this accurate?

Lots of great Bobby vocals here!
