Dead Show/podcast for 11/28/08

Hoping everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.. I know how grateful I am for all my blessings and hope you feel the same way..
This week I continue my tradition of bringing you acoustic Dead around the holidays.
Two shows this week - the first from the iconic accoustic sets from the fall of 1980:

On The Road Again, Jack-A-Roe, Monkey And The Engineer, Bird Song, Dark Hollow, Rosalie McFall
Heaven Help The Fool, China Doll, Oh Babe It Ain't No Lie -> Ripple

The second, a bit lower souond quality but still so fun to listen to.. is actually the 'Bob Weir band' - but Jerry sits in for all of the show and Mickey for most of it..

Dead Show/podcast for 11/21/08

This week we're lucky enough to have a show that was previously unreleased and unknown from 1971. While '71 might not be "primal" Dead, it certainly shows us relatively a relatively 'raw' and power-packed lineup. I really enjoy this set and think you will too -

Grateful Dead - August 4, 1971
Terminal Island Correctional Facility - San Pedro, CA
Truckin', Yellow Dog Story, Bertha, Me And Bobby McGee
Hard To Handle, China Cat Sunflower ->I Know You Rider, Loser
Playing In The Band, Next Time You See Me, Me And My Uncle, Casey Jones

As we head into Thanksgiving - let me express how grateful I am to have such wonderful listeners as you! Thanks for picking us up - Enjoy..

Dead Show/podcast for 11/7/08

This week's Deadpod was suggested to me by a posting on a list server I belong to that claimed this show had "the best" Peggy O ever... now I'm not a believer in that sort of thing generally - too many wonderful versions of these songs to identify, in most cases, "the best" version of any of them.. but it did get me to pull this one out and give it a listen..I was pleased and hope you will be too .. 2nd set next week..

Grateful Dead Auditorium Theatre Chicago, IL 6/26/76 - Saturday
One The Promised Land [3:59] ; [1:17] ; Sugaree [9:27] % Cassidy [4:12] % Row Jimmy [9:48] % Mama Tried [2:43] Tennessee Jed [8:53] % Looks Like Rain [7:41] % Scarlet Begonias % Lazy Lightnin' [2:54] > Supplication [4:39] ; [1:33] ; Peggy-O [7:53] ; The Music Never Stopped [5:55]
