Dead Show/podcast for 12/3/10

I usually try not to repeat the same year too often on the Deadpod, but I'm making an exception for this tape, which I just recently acquired. This is indeed another show from 1972, but it is so good that I wouldn't think of not sharing it with you..
This week we'll listen to the first set, which features some wonderful clean playing and a real treasure trove of the Dead catalog. I"m particulary fond of the Bird Song, and the Cumberland Blues.. but there is plenty to like in this first set:

Grateful Dead - November 15, 1972
Oklahoma City Music Hall - Oklahoma City, OK

Set 1:
Bertha
Beat It On Down The Line
Bird Song
Jack Straw
Candyman
Big River
Sugaree
El Paso
Box Of Rain
Deal
Cumberland Blues
Around And Around
China Cat Sunflower ->
I Know You Rider

I think the quality on this version will justify playing that set 2 again.. at least i hope so - what do you think?

This show comes from Charlie Miller, who noted in his show notes thanks to Rob Eaton for his Dats.. so I have absolutely no reason to doubt its provenance.. the name of the venue however might be different - I noticed that tickets for this date called it - civic center music hall ..

Sorry Professor my bad! I was going by Archive.org, but checked Dead Base 11 and you are correct! Guess I dived into the pool without checking for water! Thanks always for the great tunes!

Classis first set setlist! I enjoyed the fact that Bob and Phil were well represented in this mix, and overall everyone played and sang quite well. I was glad to hear Phil do Box Of Rain, and I liked the a-tad-quicker-than-usual pace of Around & Around. Thanks, Professor!
