Dead Show podcast for 1/7/11

I realize that I've been playing alot of early 70s Dead the last month or so and I plan on changing that up next week, but I just couldn't let that 1st set I played last week from 12/31/72 be orphaned - so I'm putting out the second set this week. Its distinguished not only for the fine ensemble playing characteristic of the time but by the presence of David Crosby on the 'Other One' and 'Morning Dew' - I think you'll be able to hear his playing..

I hope you enjoy this and forgive me for perhaps over-mining this period of GD history - there's of course a ton of other interesting periods to explore and we'll move to another next week...

Grateful Dead
Sunday December 31st, 1972
Winterland Arena, San Francisco, CA

set 2
//The Promised Land
Mississippi Half-Step
//Big River
Truckin' >
The Other One >
Drums >
The Other One>
Morning Dew
Sugar Magnolia
Sing Me Back Home
Johnny B. Goode
Uncle John's Band
One More Saturday Night

You can listen to this week's Deadpod here:

Hey Prof.

Happy New Year!

There's a really odd thing about your downloads of this new podcast. If one downloads either via the 'here' link or the link, it comes through to my computer as a jpeg file which, of course is an image file format (for photos). Being a pro photographer, I'm very familiar with jpegs. Just so you know, one can easily switch it over to a mp3 by literally just changing the '.jpeg' to 'mp3', at least I could on my mac.

Thanks again for all the great music and take care,

Paul Sky

PS If you go to my site and click on the gallery for Musicians Onstage you'll see some familiar faces.

I understand the need to move away (hopefully temporarily) from 72/73, but please don't orphan 2/21/73 Champaign/Urbana. Would be great to hear Set 2 in the not too distant future. Thx for everything you do. Happy New Year

Hey Prof,

No need to apologize! 72-74 is juicy era. Truckin' > The Other One > Drums > The Other One> Morning Dew sequence is glorious. Thanks for the positive vibes. Peace, Peter from East Lansing
