Dead Show/podcast for 11/09/07

This week a new soundboard release of the first of the five "retirement" shows from the Winterland from October of 1974. These justly famous shows were of course immortalized on "The Grateful Dead Movie" but deserve to be enjoyed individually as much as possible. Phil's spectacular playing more than makes up for Donna's occasional off-key wailing ;).

Grateful Dead Winterland Arena San Francisco, CA 10/16/74 - Wednesday
Mexicali Blues ; It Must Have Been The Roses ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Scarlet Begonias ; Me And Bobby McGee ; Tennessee Jed ; Cumberland Blues ; Row Jimmy; Playing In The Band

This segment is what exists in soundboard format of the first set. I am very glad you enjoyed last week's complete show. I'll do it again - but am not sure that I could do so every week.. but keep your eyes open we'll do it again soon!

As always you can listen to the Deadpod here:

Oh man, another great Godchaux show, and from my favorite year no less! Thank you.

This Scarlet jam is really one of the best they pulled off in '74. And Donna's certainly sounding a right shot better than she did two years earlier!

Best wishes for your cold to dissipate.

A great show, indeed, thank you!

Sometimes I wish I could just go back and be a wild-eyed degenerate in the parking lot again. Those were the days...glory hallelujah!

Professor, thanks for the many great tunes that continue to make my fridays that much better. With the holiday's coming up, and your tradition of acoustic material, may I suggest a 9/17/1970 filmore east acoustic set. I believe it was the first unveiling of box of rain...acoustic none the less, and the boys do great. Many thanks again, and keep them coming, I'm always grateful.

Good show. Some acoustic Dead or Jerry and David for the winter months would do real nice!
